This is my friend Dan. He is an AMAZING photographer. Help me help him out, all you have to do is look at his Flickr stream and tell him which pictures you like the best!

photosmith:

I need your help.

Burn and Magnum have set a May 15 deadline for submission to the 2012 Emerging Photographer Fund competition.

I’m a terrible judge of my own work — I’m too attached to some images and too disdainful of others — and I’d forgotten about the competition (I applied last…

Pakayla Biehn takes photorealistic painting to a whole new level in her series Double Exposure.

About the project:

Building upon the double exposure theme of her previous works, Pakayla uses oil paint on canvas to present dream-like transfiguration of the natural world. The skill and refined beauty of her paintings enlists a realist style that recalls the delicacy, formality, and craftsmanship of old master techniques. She combines the cultivation of the portrait with a very intimate and vibrant observation of nature.

This is insane.. Yeah, I think I’ll just give up on painting now.

OMG. omg omg omg. whoa.

thisisanemptybox asked: So I'm following you on Flickr, and I'm simply curious: What predicated the move away from Tumblr? I will enjoy continuing to see the wonderful moments that you capture. Thank you for sharing your art with us.

I’m glad you like my photography, that means a lot to me. =]

I’m making the switch to Flickr simply because it’s much easier for people to steal my work on Tumblr than on Flickr.  I don’t want to spend time watermarking my photography and either cluttering it with words or putting the watermark in a corner that someone can crop out anyway. On Flickr my images are copyrighted and I can control whether or not someone can download the original file. I know that people can still steal my images on Flickr, it’s just a little harder to. On Tumblr it’s really easy.

Essentially, I want to be more serious about my photography and I don’t want anyone to take my photographs and say they’re theirs.

Why yes, yes it is. And it’s my Yashica! =]

Dan’s photography is amazing, and if you agree with me, you should give him money. =]

I’ve just launched a kickstarter - TwinLens: An Exploration of the Art Nude & Global Culture
If you consider the concept worthwhile, please consider backing, or at least, reblogging.
Thanks!

Anonymous asked: What type of pinhole camera do you use?

It’s actually one that my dad and I made. Its a panoramic pinhole that takes 120 film. This is the tutorial I used.

Puma | Pentax K1000, Kodak Gold 400
This may not be the most “artistic” photo, but I love Beccas shoes. And the colors that I got out of the film. =D
